MTL Contractors brings together three generations of building expertise rooted in Montreal. It all began in 1946, when our grandfather Joseph returned from serving aboard the HMCS Skeena and started as a union framing carpenter during the post‑war boom.

​

Our father Michael began his career hands-on; learning the ropes as a carpenter’s apprentice, mastering everything from framing and finishing to reading blueprints and managing jobsite layouts. He then shifted into bricklaying, where he honed his precision and craftsmanship working with stone and mortar. As he gained experience, he built both technical skill and leadership ability, eventually founding his own general contracting firm. There, he leveraged his deep trade knowledge to oversee projects end-to-end; from sourcing materials and coordinating trades to ensuring quality at every stage.

 

Today my brother Jesse and I lead the team combining deep local knowledge with modern tools, advanced software and full licensure in both general and specialized contracting (RBQ 5767 5480 01).

We partner with top-tier tradespeople across Montreal, hold full bonding and CNESST/ASP certification, and back our work with a workmanship guarantee. When we are not on-site we are active online – sharing behind-the-scenes tips, build stories and vocational insights with over 110,000 followers on social media as part of a global movement to elevate the trades. We love mentoring the next generation – connecting with young apprentices, taking part in national campaigns that lift up skilled labor and speaking in classrooms and podcasts. This is why we champion the trades and why we do what we do.
