We recently had the pleasure of transforming a beautiful home in Beaconsfield. The goal was to modernize the main floor, creating a bright, functional space that blends transitional design with serious culinary power.

As a leading service provider of renovation in Montreal, we know that the difference between a "good" renovation and a "great" one lies in the invisible details. The structural prep, the mechanical rough-ins, and the precision installation.

Here's a look behind the scenes at how we brought this West Island project to life.

The Challenge: Structural & Mechanical Prep

Before the first cabinet could be installed, our team had significant preparation to do. A successful renovation isn't just about what you see; it's about what happens behind the walls.

For this Beaconsfield project, the scope included:

  • Opening the Space: We removed existing bulkheads to increase the visual height of the kitchen and create a seamless ceiling transition.

  • Structural Reinforcement: The design called for floating shelves near the range and television area. We opened the walls to install specific blocking and reinforcement to support these heavy loads safely.

  • Mechanical Relocation: To accommodate the new layout, we had to relocate HVAC vents into the cabinet toe-kicks and run a new gas line for the professional-grade rangetop.

The Kitchen Design: Materials & Finishes

This main floor renovation was anchored by a thoughtful selection of materials that balance durability with refined design. Each finish was chosen not just for aesthetics but for performance in a high-traffic, high-function kitchen:

  • Seamless Quartz Countertop: A major feature of this Beaconsfield renovation is the seamless quartz countertop we installed. The homeowners selected a quartz slab with dynamic veining that adds movement and depth while maintaining the durability required for a high-performance kitchen.

Instead of installing a standard short backsplash, we extended the quartz slab all the way up the wall behind the cooktop. This full-height installation creates a clean, continuous look and eliminates grout lines, making maintenance significantly easier over time.

Careful templating and precision installation ensured tight tolerances around the Monogram rangetop and cabinetry, delivering both a refined finish and long-term durability.

  • Cabinetry: A "Velvet" collection finish in Fresh Linen combined with Beige Lacquer accents.

  • Appliance Garage: To maintain a clean, uncluttered countertop, we incorporated a built-in appliance garage with pocketing doors. This allows small appliances to remain easily accessible while staying completely hidden when not in use—preserving the streamlined aesthetic of the kitchen.

  • Appliances: This kitchen is built for cooking. We prepared the electrical and plumbing connections for a suite of high-end appliances, including a Monogram 36" Gas Rangetop , an Asko dishwasher , and a massive Samsung Bespoke refrigerator.

  • Feature Sink: The plumbing was adapted to fit a stylish Bronte Farmhouse Sink, a centerpiece of the island.

The Powder Room: Small Space, Big Impact

While the kitchen is the heart of the home, the powder room is where you can truly "go bold." For this space, we moved away from the neutral palette of the main floor and embraced a dramatic, moody aesthetic.

Custom Millwork & Wainscoting The standout feature here is the carpentry. We designed and installed custom wainscoting on the lower half of the walls.

  • The Build: Using a traditional stile-and-rail design with 24-inch profile layouts and a 4-inch base, we created a solid architectural base that grounds the room.

  • The Color: To create an enveloping feel, we painted the wainscoting a deep navy, and, crucially, matched the 97-inch ceiling to the same dark tone. This technique draws the eye up and makes the intimate 76" x 48" footprint feel intentional rather than cramped.

  • Finishes & Fixtures Above the millwork, we installed a bold floral wallpaper that adds texture and movement. The design was finished with:

  • Lighting: Twin sconces mounted at exactly 60 inches from the finished floor to provide flattering eye-level illumination.

  • Flooring: A classic herringbone tile pattern that adds geometric complexity without overwhelming the space.

  • Vanity: A furniture-style vanity with a 24" x 30" mirror, mixing vintage charm with modern durability.
